Working hard

Sunday, August 30th, 2009

Training is going well and despite the soreness I’m feeling great. No injuries to speak of and easily on schedule weight-wise. Had fun watching the UFC yesterday. I felt bad for Leben and Herman (who’s knee popped grotesquely) but a loss is natural in sports and will not stop them. Good luck to Eddie on the rehab.

Nogueira KILLED it winning all 3 rounds quite dominantly. Randy showed why he is an icon in the sport but Nog is just craaaazy! Congrats to my friend and teammate!

I also felt bad for Demain Maia. I think he has a better fight than that to show but Nate is great and had his number. Great timing on the right hand coming over the kick (who knows why Maia was kicking).

In any case, my turn is coming up, but I think it’ll be hard to beat a 7 second knockout. Duffee should hold that record for awhile… Also, how about Evan Duham? Good showing by the Oregon youngster, eh?

If you haven’t been paying attention then welcome to the site. Have a look around. If you’ve been here before you’ll notice some changes. I hope I can do a better job with the updates in the future. Thanks for stopping by again and keep an eye on the site and especially THE FIGHT!!!

Behind the times

It’s amazing how wrapped up we can get even when we think we are managing time well. I’ve been training my ass off like I should be but in the process I’ve spent the rest of my time trying to be with the family or just relaxing the old bones and not doing anything (read: playing video games).

So my own official website has gone into disrepair and my unofficial website (read: my myspace page) is equally unchanged and nearly forgotten. I’ll be spending some time updating both to fill in the spaces that have been left by the changing news. Keep an eye out.

My next fight is against Mike Pyle at UFN 19 on September 16th in Oklahoma City. I expect a very tough and ready Pyle since he wasn’t able to show his game when he stepped in for me against Larson on short notice. I’ve known Mike for awhile and I know full well that his last fight was no measure of his skills. I’m training for the best Pyle has to offer. I don’t believe he has enough for me and I’m more than ready to move up in the ranks after some recent disappointment.

He’ll be in the fight of his life on the 16th. I doubt Mike underestimates me but who knows, he wouldn’t be the first. Expect a fast paced, high impact fight.
