Title Shot - Into the Shark Tank of Mixed Martial Arts

Sunday, July 20th, 2008

I was featured in Kelly Crigger’s new book, Title Shot: Into the Shark Tank of Mixed Martial Arts, which was released last week. Crigger came through Team Quest at the beginning of his trip through many of MMA’s top gyms. While he was here in Oregon he sat down and talked to lots of the team guys. Specifically, he talked to me about my views on how rule changes affect the strikers in MMA and MMA in general. We also talked a bit about how religion and MMA co-exist, and of course Horwich was on hand with some verses… hahaha.

I also thought it was pretty cool that he took some of my kickboxing classes and didn’t just sit on the sidelines with a pen. His book delves into the mind of the fighter and does a great job capturing what it’s like to train in MMA.

tic-toc-tic-toc

Ticking away the moments until my fight. I’ve been training very hard and have decreased my rest time between conditioning rounds. It only gets rougher from here until I peak and taper for competition.

I’ve spent some extra time in submission grappling sharpening up a few techniques and also having a little more fun with that part of my game. I always take training so seriously and sometimes I make things harder or more strenuous than they need to be. I’m back to having fun training and also back to getting better.

I’m excited to fight again!

I heard there might be a show in Portland in the coming months… Hopefully they will consider me for that event as well. I’d like to fight every 3 months or so for awhile…

Not a lot

I haven’t had too much to write lately. I’ve been focused on getting ready for my next fight and making ends meet until then. Training is going well and I feel I’ll have a great performance next month.

How about this 86 card, huh? Sounds exciting!
